Committed to Care

timeJesus cared for those around him. If he was travelling, he would stop and give his time to those who needed him.

Examples of this:
Luke 19:5 (ESV)  And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”

Luke 7:37-38 (ESV)  And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,  and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.

Luke 7:13 (ESV)  And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

Matthew 9:22 (ESV)  Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.

Luke 4:18-19 (ESV)  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,  to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

In Luke 4:18-19 Jesus explains why he has come. From looking at the spirit of his words; there is care, concern and love. A mission to do something for those who struggle and in need of help. Someone to take charge and lead them to a better place. Where they are loved and cared for.

Looking at the verses above it is obvious that Jesus cared, no matter who the person was. Further personal reading of the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John will provide you with more examples.

What kind of situation are you in at the moment? Are you struggling? May I encourage you to look at the person of Jesus. Jesus is interested and cares for you. He wants you to be complete and whole, and free from things that are hurting you. Followers of Jesus believe in prayer, talking to God. May I encourage you to do the same and pour your heart out to Jesus, and tell him your issues. Would you commit to follow him? Live like him, by caring for others. Do email me if you have questions, I will try to help.

If you are what we call a Christian, a follower of Jesus, may I encourage you to care. Care for those around you, your family, friends, colleagues, those you occasionally meet. Start a conversation, they may lead to someone opening up and talking about their struggles. Be someone who will listen and find ways to help and care. If you are a brave type and want to take risks, or feel God is leading you to go up to a stranger, then start a conversation, listen, and share the love of Jesus with them.

If you have something to offer, like some kind of service, offer it free of charge, so you can care, and maybe introduce Jesus. I have two gifts which I use together. Listening and computers. So once a week I help a person with their computer problems. More often than not they want to talk, and I listen. If the opportunity occurs, then I will share Jesus.

A prayer for those who do not believe.
Dear Jesus
Life is a struggle and I feel no one cares.
From what I have learned about you.
You care.
Help me today.
Come travel with me.
Bring me hope, restoration and mending of broken relationships
In Jesus name
Amen

A prayer for those who believe.
Dear Jesus
You cared for those who you met on your journeys
Help me today, to have your eyes
To see people who need your help and care
Give me courage
In Jesus name
Amen

Prayer for Change

Dear Jesus
So many people are in need
And so much loneliness
People feel unloved and feel no one cares
Stir up in your people
A desire to change our world
By showing your love
And by caring
In Jesus name
Amen
