The journey

journeyThe time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the Gospel. Mark 1v15

  • Making the right decisions, the time is right to do so
  • There is a place where you are loved and accepted, and not condemned
  • Look at things in your life that are not right, and do the opposite. Choose the right thing
  • Believe in Jesus, study his life and his achievements, and do the same.

Attention

attentionHow does God get our attention, if God exists? Would God get your attention by magic powers, zapping people and being like a super hero? That would be good but God would be rather busy and taking the initiative all the time. People would expect God to do everything and they would sit around and when things get difficult they would summon God to do their hearts desire. Hmmm… it does sound like some Christians today!

Would it not be better if God would come and live among us, experiencing what we experience every day? The high points and the low points. The aspects of our lives which we hate, especially those things we would like to change but feel hopeless to change. We would like a God that brings justice just for us, but don’t we all have degrees of wrong in us, in what we say, think and do! We need someone who has done nothing wrong to lead an example, someone willing to die to bring us justice and hope. If this has got your curiosity going, perhaps find out more about Jesus. Read the section in the Bible called Mark, and see what you think

Hunger

handWhat are we hungry for? What do we hope for or when we are stressed what do we do to relieve that stress? Here are some things we may hunger for: love, sex, porn, food, fame, marriage, drugs, alcohol, acceptance, staying young….

Do these things really satisfy our hunger? They are only temporary and do not last, and we go on this endless journey, sometimes in a very self destructive way.

For myself I long for someone to be my friend, someone to listen to me and care, to help me on my journey. I believe this is found in believing and following Jesus. In doing so we form a relationship with God.

My challenge to anyone reading this is to look at the hunger in your own life, if it is not satisfying you, find out about Jesus and his life. Maybe read the section the Bible called Mark. God bless you.

Inner voice

changeHow do we respond to that inner voice that is in us all. Do we ignore it? It seems it never goes away. We can try to quieten it with other things like busyness, drugs, hobbies, habits, leisure, etc… But it is still there.

Maybe we should respond by bringing changes to our lives or examine where our lives are going to. By stopping, lots come to the surface and some those things are not nice. There maybe a need to say sorry or make an extra effort to make things right. We are very good at seeing faults in others but do not spend any time with looking at ourselves. John the baptist saw the need in people to make changes to their lives, and used the word repentance, a turning around from bad things and starting anew. This is achieved by saying sorry and asking for forgiveness.
