Jesus that’s all

I have worked with those who oppose Abortion, Sexual Orientation, Islam, Euthanasia etc… Maybe they are noble causes but I have been struck by one thing. More often than not there is no love for the so called enemy, and worst still there is no love among those who stand together who fight the cause. I come to see these groups as the same as the pressure groups they oppose if not worse. Jesus taught two things that I feel are so important, without them, whatever we do is worth nothing.

1. But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you – Matthew 5:44
2. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

And it is so important to love God, that is where it starts.

I listen to their words and idealogy, but Jesus is somewhat missing. And I hear words like truth but it only indicates a hard heart and a justification for a position, but the only truth I know is Jesus

I read Jesus’ mission statement and it challenges me in a completely different direction.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 14:18-19

I sometimes think that the people we oppose may be brokenhearted, stuck in a personal prison, blinded by a world that promises so much but delivers only pain, or been abused by people in the past or now. I would hope that the gospel Jesus preached would release these people, not bring them into more condemnation and judgement. They need good news! If I have ever been in a situation of judgement then I am sorry, this is not Jesus, he cared, he loved. So much so that the people who had power and money killed him. I have a picture from a movie of a nail resting on Jesus’ hand which is about to be hammered in. This brings me back to what the cross is really about. God’s incredible love for us.

I firmly believe that if we want to see change our countries, we need to get on our knees, acknowledge God, and repent. It begins with our hard hearts. Then we can pray, and we will see change. Most important we need to want to be like Jesus, follow Him and to love like He did.

Justice

May God be the one who brings justice to your life, may we never take things into our own hands, for we may be the one who is wrong. 1 Samuel 24:12-15

Be a light to the world

In everything I do, may it direct people to Jesus
In my dealings with my family
The people I meet
When driving the car
The thoughts I think
And the things I watch on the television and the internet
May I build people up
Listen to both what is being said and what is not
May I show grace especially to those who have hurt me and continue to do so
May my life be full of Jesus
Devoted to prayer, study and the car for others

God cares

All is not lost. Even as Jesus approached His own death, Jesus was concerned for those around Him. God also cares for you, He will send help in our dark moments. That can be in the form of providing for our needs materially or by sending someone. So today, God cares, look out for his provision and for those people who need your help. Luke 23: 26 – 31

Works of God

People think that what they are doing and saying is right. They will do their utmost to prove that. But we who follow Jesus need to always review our actions and our words, for we may be stopping a great work of God!  Luke 23v34

Greatness … ?

Am I great. Do I deserve any praise on who I am. Maybe, but I really do not know. The Jesus model is to serve, to view the world from the lowest person. For then truely you will see life for what it actually is. Luke 22:24-30
