This weekend I accompanied my two daughters on their hack on their favourite horses. They rode while I walked behind them. It was good to spend time with them, talking and seeing them enjoy what they love doing. They also appreciated that I was there with them.

While I was walking it reminded me of God, how God enjoys and appreciates the time we spend with Him. Do we always see this, or do we see God as distant, uncaring or some kind of warmonger.

Perhaps we need time to think again about God and His great love for us. Maybe it is time to be quiet in his presence and enjoy His company.

We want to be happy and satisfied. We look at what is going on around us and our minds dwell on the so called good things of life. But we need to ask the question, ‘Will they satisfy? Will my life be complete?’

A man who claimed to be God called Jesus, was tempted to turn stones to bread after 40 days of not eating. But he refused, as satisfaction cannot be found in eating for we will become hungry again. Rather satisfaction comes from doing the will of God and following his ways.

We journey through this life. Is it worth examining our lives? We could compare ourselves with Jesus, seeing whether our lives would be more complete and satisfied. Maybe there is a time to stop looking at what we want and start caring and serving others, being a benefit to all we meet. Are we up for the challenge of love, kindness, grace and mercy.

How is your journey?

We all have a plan for our lives. We usually know what we are doing everyday.

But these planned days get interrupted by unexpected incidents.

Maybe it is a late train, a traffic jam, surgery, illness, neighbours visiting, etc…

Sometimes incidents ruin our plans.

If you follow Jesus, your plans maybe interrupted by God. Perhaps God wants you to speak or help somebody, or to protect you from an incident that is going to hurt you like an accident.

If an unexpected interruption happens to you today. Stop. Give it to God. And go with whatever the interruption is.

How do we react to those who dislike us or we dislike them?

The temptation maybe is to ignore them or to criticise them especially behind their backs. We prefer to close down communication.

What if we did the opposite and were kind to them? Accepting that they are different and choose to work on what we agree on.

A man who claimed to be God called Jesus encourage this. He said ‘We are to love our enemies’ and ‘do good to those who dislike us’.

Is this possible? I agree it is hard and some of the evil things people do begs the question ‘why should I?’  But do we sort out a problem by returning evil for evil?

I do believe that we can love our enemies, with the help of God.

Life at times can be hard, we find ourselves in the wrong place. Like the wrong job, the wrong people, the wrong area to live, the wrong relationship, etc…

Sometimes this is very obvious in people, as they come across very difficult, angry or maybe the complete opposite in being depressed or negative.

I personally have found myself in these places but the one thing that has kept me going is a belief in God.

Everyday I place my day in the hands of God, and spend the day communicating with God and following the example of Jesus.

I also feel serving others helps with the walk we are on. Talking our mind off ourselves and our unhappiness, and finding fulfillment in helping out.
